Vice president

Amber Spierer is a senior associate at Mark Krueger & Associates, Inc. She brings to the firm a solid knowledge of ally development combined with a broad, in-depth science and communications background.

Amber’s knowledge of patient and professional group relations has provided her the opportunity to help clients enhance their partnerships with advocacy organizations working in cardiovascular health, HIV/AIDS, metabolic syndrome, neuroscience, and oncology.

Amber brings to her clients a thorough understanding of medical science, clinical trials, drug development, and the FDA approval process, as well as the policy issues currently facing the pharmaceutical industry. Her experience includes many aspects of ally development including relationship building, thought leader development, clinical trial recruitment, crisis management, and roundtable forums. Among Amber’s achievements are the establishment of the external affairs function at the US subsidiary of a leading oncology company and provision of on-site support to this important function focused on stakeholder partnerships and building strategies to impact health care policy. She has also created and implemented a cooperative program that resulted in the first charter of rights for people living with Alzheimer’s disease on behalf of Alzheimer Disease International.

Amber serves as co-CEO for a joint venture between MK&A and The Brooks Group that produces STAR, a proprietary syndicated research product that is the first to allow pharma and biotech companies to measure how they are perceived as an advocacy partner by patient, consumer, and professional groups. She oversees the research, development, and delivery of twice yearly reports and their analysis and publication, as well as customized consultation with subscribers.

Prior to joining MK&A, Amber worked at GCI group, a public relations firm, supporting accounts in the health care division. At GCI, Amber assisted clients in conditioning the market for new products, supporting product launches, and building market positions for existing treatments facing the entry of competitors.

Amber holds a B.A. in political science and a minor in economics from Emory University and an M.P.H. from the Joseph A. Mailman School of Public Health of Columbia University in New York City.
