Olshan Senior consultant Anne S. Olshan has more than 20 years of experience in health care and consumer public relations. Her areas of expertise include advocacy relations, access and reimbursement, clinical trial recruitment, crisis management, product launches, and publicity campaigns in the following therapeutic areas: brain injury, HIV/AIDS, mental illness and other CNS disorders, multiple sclerosis, oncology, rare disorders, spinal cord injury and disease, and stroke. Since joining Mark Krueger & Associates, Inc. in 1996, working as a consultant, Anne has developed and spearheaded successful advocacy relations programs and publicity campaigns for a wide range of clients, including Allergan, Inc., Boehringer Ingelheim, Serono Laboratories, AstraZeneca Pharmaceuticals, Janssen Pharmaceutica, and the National Alliance for Research on Schizophrenia and Depression (NARSAD). Since 2005, Anne has provided strategic counsel and support to Allergan’s marketing, health care policy, clinical trial recruitment, and public relations teams on building partnerships with patient and professional groups in support of BOTOX® (onabotulinumtoxinA) for approved uses in movement disorders and upper limb spasticity and pending indications for overactive bladder and migraine. Other projects include policy support for the National Stroke Association, advocacy relations training for Boehringer Ingelheim, spearheading the media campaign for Serono’s drug Serostim® for AIDS wasting, and identifying partnership opportunities for AstraZeneca with patient and professional organizations around the world that focus on the companies’ key therapeutic areas. From 1993 to 1996, Anne worked at GTFH Public Relations where she held the titles of senior account executive and account supervisor. Her major assignment was Janssen Pharmaceutica’s new drug Risperdal® (risperidone), for treating schizophrenia. She managed the public relations launch, which resulted in extensive media coverage, reaching an audience of more than 90 million. In addition, she created a highly effective outreach effort to consumer and professional groups. At GTFH, Anne also worked for Syntex Laboratories in the U.S. and worldwide on the introduction of an oral formulation of its drug Cytovene® (ganciclovir) for maintenance treatment of cytomegalovirus (CMV) retinitis, the most prevalent and serious eye complication of HIV disease. She also promoted a potential new cancer treatment developed by Repligen, a biotechnology company. Anne began her career at Robert Marston and Associates’ marketing communications division. She contributed to several of the agency’s medical and health care product programs in addition to her consumer and environmental assignments. Anne graduated cum laude from Boston University’s College of Liberal Arts with a B.A. in English, and from its College of Communications with a B.S. in public relations/mass communications.
